I love to write. I need to write. Over the years I have honed my writing skills so that I am equally comfortable providing a fully referenced academic report or writing a short story. I can write to brief, meaning that what you ask for is what you will get. I am always open to suggestions, and will work closely with any clients and/or editors to ensure that the finished work is as good as it can be.

Previous Work

I've written in a number of genres, including script writing for museums and heritage institutions, and fiction. 

Script Writing

Thus far, my script writing jobs have exclusively related to Northern Ireland, and the Mid and East Antrim area in particular. They include:

  • 'Sticking to the seat' exhibition, October 2012 and revised and extended for September 2019 (Carrickfergus Museum).
  • Kids’n’Castles app (Mid-Antrim Heritage Partnership, 2016).
  • iPad gallery trails developed (by me) for Carrickfergus Museum in 2016, and Sentry Hill in 2017 (MEABC and Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council).  
  • Android gallery trail developed by me for The Braid, Ballymena (Mid-Antrim Heritage Partnership, 2018)
  • script for exhibition commemorating Northern Ireland’s centenary in 2021, the NI100 ‘Looking Back to Look Forward’ exhibition (MEABC, 2021).
  •  ‘Mary Alice Young’ exhibition (MEABC, 2022)
  • ‘Made for Memories’ brochure (MEABC, 2023)
  • ‘Rites of Passage’ script (work in progress; MEABC, 2023)

Fiction (Novels)

Established in 2001, Girls Gone By is a publisher that focuses on reprinting titles written for girls between c.1920-1970. This includes the works of Elinor Mary Brent-Dyer, best known as the author of the Chalet School series. Brent-Dyer’s enduring popularity has allowed GGBP to commission modern authors to write new books and short stories for the Chalet School series. These are carefully edited for period accuracy and consistency with Brent-Dyer’s original work. My own contribution consists of ten short stories and three novels.

  • The Chalet School returns to the Alps (novel; GGBP, 2021)
  • Rosamund Heads the Chalet School (novel; GGBP, 2023).
